This lesson addresses the basic criteria to consider when selecting the appropriate PIT, as well as safe and unsafe operating behaviors and hazardous conditions. This lesson is not intended to deliver authorized, qualified, or competent person training. Because of the unique characteristics of PITs, which vary by vehicle type and manufacturer, this lesson cannot provide operational training. Your employer is responsible for training you on the specific vehicles you will use or encounter on your job. Additionally, this lesson does not cover rough terrain fork trucks (tele-handlers) used on construction sites.
